US 10 Dollar Banknote (Blue Seal) First Issued 1914

£6.206378

1 USD = £0.620638

United States dollar banknotes have been issued in a variety of formats by the U.S. Treasury and later the Federal Reserve, including this historic US $10 Blue Seal banknote first issued in 1914. This note forms part of the original Federal Reserve Note series and marks an important stage in the evolution of the modern American banking system.

The $10 Blue Seal banknote was printed primarily in black and green ink on light-coloured paper and is instantly recognisable by its blue Treasury seal and blue serial numbers. These features were characteristic of early Federal Reserve Notes and distinguish them from later issues. The note was authorised following the Federal Reserve Act of 1913 and circulated widely during the early twentieth century.

On the obverse of the banknote is a finely engraved portrait of Andrew Jackson, the seventh President of the United States. The portrait is centrally positioned within an oval frame, surrounded by ornate scrollwork and intricate line engraving. The text “The United States of America” appears prominently across the top, with “Ten Dollars” displayed along the lower portion of the note. Federal Reserve district identifiers and the blue Treasury seal are clearly visible, confirming its status as a Federal Reserve Note.

The reverse of the banknote features a detailed engraved scene symbolising the American economy of the period. On one side, agricultural activity is shown with farmers harvesting crops using horse-drawn equipment, while the opposite side depicts factories, rail transport and industrial infrastructure. This design reflects the balance between agriculture and industry in early twentieth-century America and is unique to this early series.

This issue is particularly notable for its detailed engraving, symbolic imagery and historical significance. Although no longer issued for circulation, US $10 Blue Seal banknotes remain recognised as withdrawn historic currency and are of interest to collectors and those holding legacy US notes.
