About Macedonian Denari Exchange
The Macedonian Denar (MKD) is the official currency of North Macedonia, a landlocked country in the western Balkans. We accept all denominations of Macedonian Denari banknotes and coins, including older series and damaged notes.
Current Macedonian Denari Banknotes
Macedonian Denari banknotes feature distinctive designs celebrating the country’s cultural heritage, natural landscapes, and historical figures. We accept all denominations currently in circulation, including notable notes such as the 100 Denari and the 500 Denari — and everything in between. If you’re returning from the region having also visited neighbouring countries, we can also exchange Serbian Dinara and Albanian Leke.
Old Series & Damaged Notes
Unlike most high street exchanges, we don’t turn away older or damaged Macedonian Denari banknotes. We accept withdrawn notes, including the 50 Denari and 10 Denari banknotes first issued in 1996, provided they remain at least 50% intact. The exchange rate for damaged or withdrawn notes may be slightly lower than for current series notes.
Macedonian Denari Coins
We also accept Macedonian Denari coins, which many currency exchanges and UK banks will simply refuse. Coins are exchanged at a slightly lower rate than banknotes due to the additional handling involved, but there is no need to leave them sitting in a drawer at home.
