About New Taiwan Dollar Exchange
The New Taiwan Dollar (TWD) is the official currency of Taiwan, issued by the Central Bank of the Republic of China. We accept all denominations of New Taiwan Dollar banknotes and coins, including older series and damaged notes.
Current New Taiwan Dollar Banknotes
The current series of New Taiwan Dollar banknotes features colourful designs celebrating Taiwan’s landscapes and wildlife, with security features including watermarks, security threads, and colour-shifting ink on higher-value notes. We accept all current denominations, from lower-value notes right up through the larger notes in circulation. If you’re also returning from elsewhere in the region, we exchange other Asian currencies including Hong Kong Dollars and Japanese Yen.
Old Series & Damaged Notes
Unlike most high street exchanges, we accept older withdrawn New Taiwan Dollar banknotes as well as notes that have been torn, written on, or otherwise damaged. Notes must be at least 50% intact to qualify for exchange, and the rate applied will be slightly lower than for current series notes to reflect the additional handling involved. If you have any doubt about whether your notes qualify, feel free to contact us before sending.
New Taiwan Dollar Coins
We also accept New Taiwan Dollar coins, including the commonly circulated 1, 5, 10, and 50 NT dollar denominations. Coins are exchanged at a slightly lower rate than banknotes due to the additional handling costs involved, but unlike many banks and bureaux de change, we won’t turn them away.
