About Slovak Koruna Exchange
The Slovak Koruna (SKK) was the official currency of Slovakia until the country adopted the Euro in January 2009, making all Koruna banknotes and coins withdrawn from circulation. We accept all denominations of Slovak Koruna banknotes and coins, including older series and damaged notes.
Current Slovak Koruna Banknotes
As Slovakia has used the Euro since 2009, there are no current Slovak Koruna banknotes in circulation — every note is now a withdrawn issue. We do, however, accept the full range of Koruna banknotes that were in use prior to the changeover, including higher-value notes such as the 5,000 Koruna and the 1,000 Koruna notes. If you have found old Koruna tucked away after a trip or inherited from a relative, we can still convert them for you.
Old Series & Damaged Notes
Because all Slovak Koruna are by definition withdrawn, this is our speciality. Unlike most high street exchanges, we accept the complete range of Koruna banknotes, including denominations such as the 500 Koruna and the 200 Koruna, right through the smaller values. We also accept damaged notes, provided they are at least 50% intact, though these may be exchanged at a slightly lower rate to reflect their condition. Other pre-Euro currencies from the same era, such as Slovenian Tolars or Czech Koruna, are also accepted on our site if you have a mix of old Central European currencies.
Slovak Koruna Coins
We accept Slovak Koruna coins alongside banknotes, covering the full range of denominations that were in everyday use before the Euro transition. Coins are exchanged at a slightly lower rate than banknotes due to the additional handling and verification costs involved. If you have a collection of old Koruna coins, simply include them with your banknotes when you send your currency in.
