About Vietnamese Dong Exchange

The Vietnamese Dong (VND) is the official currency of Vietnam, issued by the State Bank of Vietnam. We accept all denominations of Vietnamese Dong banknotes and coins, including older series and damaged notes.

Current Vietnamese Dong Banknotes

Current Vietnamese Dong banknotes are printed on polymer and feature a range of denominations, with higher-value notes such as the 500,000 VND and 200,000 VND being the most commonly returned by travellers. All denominations are accepted, including smaller notes that are often overlooked after a trip. Unlike many high street exchanges, we will assess your full collection rather than cherry-picking only the highest values.

Old Series & Damaged Notes

Unlike most high street exchanges, we accept older withdrawn Vietnamese Dong banknotes as well as damaged or worn notes that other services typically turn away. We do ask that damaged notes are at least 50% intact to be eligible for exchange. Rates for old or damaged notes are applied at a slightly lower rate to reflect the additional handling involved. If you are also sitting on leftover currency from other Southeast Asian trips, we exchange Thai Baht and Lao Kip too.

Vietnamese Dong Coins

We accept Vietnamese Dong coins, which are rarely taken back by banks or bureaux de change in the UK. Due to the additional handling involved, coins are exchanged at a lower rate than banknotes, but it is still worth sending them in rather than leaving them in a drawer. Please ensure coins are loose and not taped or bagged in sealed rolls.

Vietnamese Dong Exchange FAQ

Can I exchange Vietnamese Dong if I have a mix of old and new notes?

Yes, absolutely. We accept both current polymer Vietnamese Dong banknotes and older withdrawn series in the same submission. Simply send everything together and we will assess each note individually, applying the appropriate rate for current and older denominations.

Most UK banks won't exchange Vietnamese Dong — can you help?

Yes! Vietnamese Dong is not widely exchangeable on the UK high street, and most banks and travel money providers will not buy it back. We specialise in currencies like the Dong that are difficult to exchange elsewhere, so you can send in your leftover notes and coins with confidence.

How do I send my Vietnamese Dong to you and when will I be paid?

Simply box up your Vietnamese Dong banknotes and coins and post them to us yourself using a postage method of your choice. Once we receive and verify your currency, we will pay you within 5 working days by bank transfer or PayPal. If for any reason you are not happy with our offer, we will return your currency free of charge.

Do you accept damaged or torn Vietnamese Dong banknotes?

Yes, we do accept damaged Vietnamese Dong notes, provided each note is at least 50% intact. Rates for damaged notes are slightly lower than for notes in good condition, but we will always make you a fair offer rather than simply rejecting them outright.

Are Vietnamese Dong coins worth sending in?

Yes, it is worth including your coins rather than discarding them. Vietnamese Dong coins are rarely accepted by UK banks or currency exchange desks, but we will exchange them alongside your banknotes. Bear in mind the rate for coins is a little lower than for notes due to the extra handling involved.
