About Jersey Pounds Exchange
The Jersey Pound (JEP) is the official currency of the Bailiwick of Jersey, a British Crown dependency in the Channel Islands, pegged at parity with sterling. We accept all denominations of Jersey Pound banknotes and coins, including older series and damaged notes.
Current Jersey Pound Banknotes
Jersey’s current banknotes were issued in 2010 by the States of Jersey and are produced in a range of denominations, including the 50 pound note and the 20 pound note, as well as smaller values. All denominations from the 2010 series are accepted, so if you have any left over from a trip to the island, we can convert them for you.
Old Series & Damaged Notes
Unlike most high street exchanges, we buy withdrawn Jersey Pound banknotes, including older issues such as the 1989 50 pound note and earlier series going back to the 1963 5 pound note. We also accept damaged notes, provided they are at least 50% intact, though the rate applied will be slightly lower than for current, undamaged notes. If you have Guernsey Pounds or Isle of Man Pounds tucked away alongside your Jersey currency, we can exchange those too.
Jersey Pound Coins
Jersey issues its own coins in denominations including 1p, 2p, 5p, 10p, 20p, 50p, and £1, which are legal tender on the island but not widely accepted on the British mainland. We accept Jersey Pound coins at a slightly reduced rate to account for handling costs — something most banks and currency exchanges will not offer at all.
