US $100 Dollar Banknote (Benjamin Franklin) Issued 1993

£62.063775

1 USD = £0.620638

United States dollar banknotes have been issued in a range of designs and series by the Federal Reserve, including this US $100 banknote featuring Benjamin Franklin, issued in 1993. This note forms part of the pre-2009 large-portrait design era and was widely used in both domestic and international circulation before later security-enhanced versions were introduced.

The $100 banknote is printed primarily in black and green ink on light-coloured paper and includes traditional security features typical of the period, such as a green Treasury seal, green serial numbers, and a Federal Reserve district seal identifying the issuing bank. Although still recognised as legal tender in the United States, this series is no longer printed and is increasingly treated as a withdrawn or legacy design outside the US.

On the obverse of the banknote is an engraved portrait of Benjamin Franklin, one of the Founding Fathers of the United States. Franklin’s portrait is centred within an oval frame, surrounded by intricate guilloché patterns and ornamental borders. The wording “The United States of America” appears across the top, with the denomination “One Hundred Dollars” clearly displayed along the lower portion of the note.

The reverse of the banknote features a detailed engraving of Independence Hall in Philadelphia, an iconic building associated with the signing of the Declaration of Independence and the drafting of the US Constitution. The building is shown in fine architectural detail, framed by decorative scrollwork and large denomination numerals in each corner.

This $100 series is notable for its classic appearance and historic symbolism, representing the final generation of US banknotes before the introduction of modern colour-shifting inks, watermarks, and enhanced anti-counterfeiting features.
