US $100 Dollar Banknote (Benjamin Franklin) Issued 2006

United States dollar banknotes have been issued in a variety of designs and series by the Federal Reserve, including this US $100 banknote featuring Benjamin Franklin, issued in 2006. This note belongs to the final generation of the traditional large-portrait design, used widely before the introduction of enhanced colour and security features in later US banknote series.
The 2006 $100 banknote retains the classic black and green colour scheme and is printed on cotton-based paper. Security features typical of this era include a green Treasury seal, green serial numbers, a Federal Reserve district seal, and fine-line engraving designed to deter counterfeiting. While this note remains legal tender in the United States, it is no longer printed and is increasingly regarded as a legacy design outside the US banking system.
The obverse of the banknote displays an engraved portrait of Benjamin Franklin, one of the Founding Fathers of the United States. Franklin’s portrait is positioned centrally within an oval frame, surrounded by intricate scrollwork and detailed ornamental borders. The denomination “One Hundred Dollars” is clearly shown along the lower edge of the note, with “The United States of America” across the top.
On the reverse, the banknote features Independence Hall in Philadelphia, an important historical building associated with the signing of the Declaration of Independence and the drafting of the US Constitution. The structure is rendered in fine architectural detail, framed by decorative engraving and large denomination numerals in each corner.
This 2006 $100 series represents the last traditional design of the United States’ highest-value circulating banknote before the introduction of modern security elements such as colour-shifting ink, watermarks, and 3D security ribbons.
