US $10000 Dollar Banknote First Issued 1918

United States high-denomination banknotes were produced primarily for large interbank transfers rather than everyday public use, and the US $10,000 banknote first issued in 1918 represents one of the most remarkable examples of early twentieth-century American currency. These notes were created to move substantial sums between banks and Federal Reserve facilities before the era of electronic payments.
This extraordinary denomination is printed in black and green ink on large-format paper typical of early Federal Reserve Notes. It features a blue Treasury seal and was part of the early issues supporting the expanding US banking system following the creation of the Federal Reserve.
The obverse of the note displays an engraved portrait of Salmon P. Chase, former U.S. Treasury Secretary and Chief Justice of the United States. His portrait sits within an ornate oval frame surrounded by complex scrollwork and fine line engraving. The words “The United States of America” appear prominently across the top, with the denomination “Ten Thousand Dollars” boldly printed along the lower centre.
The reverse of the banknote carries an elaborate historical vignette depicting the “Embarkation of the Pilgrims”, surrounded by heavy decorative borders and large denomination numerals in each corner. The craftsmanship reflects the museum-grade engraving and artistic quality associated with high-value American currency of this era.
Although these notes remain legal tender in the United States, they were officially withdrawn from circulation in 1969 and are no longer used in everyday transactions. Most surviving examples are now held by collectors, making genuine notes extremely rare.
Because of their rarity and value, any US $10,000 banknote submitted for exchange must undergo authentication before acceptance can be confirmed. Processing times for notes of this type will therefore be longer than standard exchanges.
We welcome enquiries for these high-value withdrawn notes; however, acceptance for exchange is always subject to successful verification and condition assessment on receipt.
