About Bermuda Dollar Exchange

The Bermuda Dollar (BMD) is the official currency of Bermuda, pegged at parity with the US Dollar and used exclusively on the island. We accept all denominations of Bermuda Dollar banknotes and coins, including older series and damaged notes.

Current Bermuda Banknotes

Bermuda Dollar banknotes are issued by the Bermuda Monetary Authority and feature distinctive island imagery, including Bermuda’s famous wildlife and landmarks. We accept all current denominations — whether you’ve returned with a handful of lower-value notes or a higher-denomination banknote tucked away from your trip.

Old Series & Damaged Notes

Unlike most high street exchanges, we buy withdrawn Bermuda Dollar banknotes as well as notes that are torn, worn, or otherwise damaged. As long as a note is at least 50% intact, we can make you an offer, though the rate may be slightly lower than for current series notes. If you’ve come across older Bermuda banknotes — perhaps found in a drawer years after a holiday — it’s well worth sending them in rather than leaving them to gather dust.

Bermuda Dollar Coins

We also accept Bermuda Dollar coins, which is something most banks and exchange bureaux simply won’t do. Our link index includes a range of issued coins, such as the 5 Bermuda Dollar coin issued 1983 and the 1 Bermuda Dollar coin issued 1970, along with smaller cent denominations — so don’t discard any of your leftover change. Rates for coins are slightly lower than for banknotes due to the additional handling involved.

Why Exchange With Us?

Bermuda Dollar Exchange FAQ

Is the Bermuda Dollar the same value as the US Dollar?

Yes — the Bermuda Dollar is pegged at a 1:1 rate with the US Dollar, so they are technically equal in value. In Bermuda itself, both currencies circulate freely, which is why many visitors return home with a mix of both. We exchange Bermuda Dollars separately, so if you have leftover BMD banknotes or coins, send them in and we’ll convert them for you.

Can I exchange Bermuda Dollar coins as well as banknotes?

Yes! We accept a wide range of Bermuda Dollar coins, including older issued pieces such as the 50 cent coin issued 1970 and the 25 cent coin issued 1970. Most banks and travel money bureaux won’t touch foreign coins, so we’re one of the few places in the UK where you can convert them.

Do you accept old or withdrawn Bermuda Dollar banknotes?

Yes, we do accept older withdrawn Bermuda Dollar banknotes, unlike many high street exchanges that only deal in current series notes. The rate offered may be slightly lower than for current banknotes, but as long as the note is at least 50% intact we can assess it. If you’re unsure whether your note qualifies, contact us and we’ll be happy to advise.

How do I send my Bermuda Dollars to you and when will I be paid?

Simply box up your Bermuda Dollar banknotes and coins and post them to us yourself — we recommend using a tracked postal service for your own peace of mind. Once we receive and verify your currency, we’ll pay you within 5 working days by bank transfer or PayPal. If for any reason you’re not happy with our offer, we’ll return your currency to you free of charge.

Can UK banks exchange my leftover Bermuda Dollars?

In practice, very few UK banks or post offices will exchange Bermuda Dollars, as it’s a specialist currency not widely traded on the high street. That’s where we can help — we exchange both Bermuda Dollar banknotes and coins, including older issued pieces and damaged notes that other services would turn away.
