On the reverse, designed by William Gardner, is a crowned Tudor rose — the double rose badge beneath a royal crown — with “TWENTY PENCE” curving above, the split date “19 84” to either side of the crown, and the large numeral “20” below. The designer’s initials “W G” flank the rose.
