British 2 Pounds Coin Issued 1986

The United Kingdom Royal Mint issued British Pound coins in 16 different denominations. Included was this British commemorative two pounds coin. These particular minted coins are part of the pre-decimal and withdrawn Pound Sterling coins series. In 1986 these two British Pounds coins were first minted by the Royal Mint and in 1996 were withdrawn from circulation.
This nickel-brass composite old style two British pounds coin was not in general circulation in the UK. These coins were commemorative minted coins to celebrate special occasions.
