British 50 Pence Coin 1997

The United Kingdom Royal Mint issued British Pound coins in 8 different denominations. Included was this 50 Pence coin of Great Britain, part of the Pound Sterling series of coins. In 1997 these 0.5 British Pound coins were first minted by the Royal Mint and they are currently still in circulation.
The obverse side of this fifty pence coin is an image of a figure of Britannia seated beside a lion, with a shield resting against her right side, holding a trident in her right hand and an olive branch in her left. On the reverse side is a portrait of HM Queen Elizabeth II wearing the George IV State Diadem.
