The five-sen coin is a small circulating denomination of the Brunei dollar, the currency of the Sultanate of Brunei that remains interchangeable at par with the Singapore dollar. Struck in cupro-nickel, it is a small silver-coloured coin with a milled edge.
On the obverse, the coin carries the portrait of Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah in ceremonial uniform, framed by the legend “SULTAN HAJI HASSANAL BOLKIAH”.
On the reverse, a traditional Bruneian ornamental design occupies the centre, surrounded by the legend “KERAJAAN BRUNEI”, the year and the denomination “5 SEN”.
