The 5 Chinese Yuan banknote issued between 1980 and 1996 forms part of the fourth series of Renminbi introduced by the People’s Bank of China. Although these 5 Yuan notes were widely circulated throughout China during the 1980s and 1990s, they have since been replaced by newer series with advanced security features.
