The fifty pesos coin was a common circulating denomination in Colombia before the redesigned coin family introduced in 2012. Struck in a copper-nickel alloy with a silvery appearance, it is a round coin with a plain edge, built to withstand steady everyday use.
On the obverse is the national coat of arms of Colombia — an Andean condor with outstretched wings above a shield, flanked by four national flags — with the legend “REPÚBLICA DE COLOMBIA” around the rim and the date “2008” at the foot.
On the reverse, a large numeral “50” stands above the word “PESOS”, framed by a wreath of laurel leaves that join in a bow at the base.
