On the obverse is the coat of arms of Cyprus — a shield showing a dove with an olive branch above the date “1960”, flanked by two olive branches — with the trilingual legend “CYPRUS · ΚΥΠΡΟΣ · KIBRIS” around the rim and the date “1987” below.

On the reverse is a stylised bird adapted from ancient Cypriot art, accompanied by an olive sprig, with the numeral “1” at the lower left.
