The fifty korun coin is the highest circulating coin denomination of the Czech Republic. It is bimetallic, with a copper-coloured outer ring around a golden-toned centre, giving it a striking two-tone appearance, and it remains in everyday use.
On the obverse is the Czech heraldic lion — a crowned, double-tailed rampant lion — set in the golden centre, with the legend “ČESKÁ REPUBLIKA” around the copper ring, the value “50 Kč”, the date “2021” and a small mint mark below the lion.
On the reverse is a panoramic view of Prague, dominated by Prague Castle and the spires of St Vitus Cathedral with a bridge in the foreground, and the Latin inscription “PRAGA MATER URBIUM” (Prague, mother of cities) around the ring.
