About Dutch Guilders Exchange
The Dutch Guilder (NLG) was the official currency of the Netherlands until it was replaced by the Euro in 2002, making all Guilder banknotes and coins withdrawn from circulation. We accept all denominations of Dutch Guilder banknotes and coins, including older series and damaged notes.
Current Dutch Guilder Banknotes
As the Dutch Guilder is no longer in circulation, there are no current-series banknotes — every Guilder note you hold is a withdrawn issue. The Netherlands exchanged its Guilders for Euros over two decades ago, so any notes you come across today are collector or legacy items from before 2002.
Old Series & Damaged Notes
Unlike most high street exchanges, we accept the full range of withdrawn Dutch Guilder banknotes, including higher-value issues such as the 100 Guilder note issued in 1993 and the 250 Guilder note issued in 1986, as well as lower-denomination notes from across the decades. We also accept damaged notes, provided they are at least 50% intact, though the rate offered may be slightly lower to reflect the condition.
Dutch Guilder Coins
We buy Dutch Guilder coins too, including denominations such as the 5 Gulden coin and the 2.5 Gulden coin, along with smaller cent pieces and everything in between. Because coins require additional handling, the rate is typically a little lower than for banknotes, but we are one of the few services in the UK that will take them at all.
