The East Caribbean five cents is a small denomination of the currency shared across the member states of the Eastern Caribbean Currency Union. This later issue is struck in light aluminium with a wavy, scalloped edge that gives it a flower-like outline, making it thin, light and easy to recognise by touch. Its clean, modern design belongs to the series introduced from the early 2000s.

On the obverse, the coin carries the uncrowned portrait of Queen Elizabeth II facing right, the design signed with the initials “IRB” for the engraver Ian Rank-Broadley, with the legend “QUEEN ELIZABETH THE SECOND” following the scalloped edge.

On the reverse, a large central “5” is framed by two curved sprigs of laurel meeting in a bow at the base. The inscription “EAST CARIBBEAN STATES” arcs across the top with the year to the right, and “FIVE CENTS” runs along the foot.
