20 Senti — Gold-Coloured (Issued 1992)

The golden 20 senti was a minor coin of the Estonian kroon, the currency Estonia reintroduced in 1992 and used until adopting the euro on 1 January 2011. Its warm golden appearance comes from the aluminium-bronze alloy in which it was struck, a light but hard-wearing metal well suited to a small circulating coin. A reeded edge and modest diameter made it easy to pick out by touch among other change.

On the obverse, the coin displays the national arms of Estonia — three heraldic lions passant arranged vertically — with the date 1992 divided on either side of the lions and a beaded circle enclosing the whole.

On the reverse, the large numeral “20” stands above the word “SENTI”, and the legend “EESTI VABARIIK” — Republic of Estonia — runs around the upper edge. The uncluttered field keeps the denomination prominent and clear.
