10 Centimes France (Issued 1990)
The 10 centimes was a minor coin of the French franc, the currency in use in France until the euro replaced it in 2002. Struck in aluminium-bronze with a warm golden colour, it was a light, durable piece used for small change, and its shape carried a smoothly rounded outline. It belonged to the long-running Marianne series of minor coins.
On the obverse, the head of Marianne — the symbolic figure of the Republic, wearing a Phrygian cap — by Henri Lagriffoul faces left, with “RÉPUBLIQUE FRANÇAISE” around the edge.
On the reverse, the numeral “10” and the word “CENTIMES” are set beside an olive branch, with “LIBERTÉ ÉGALITÉ FRATERNITÉ” and the year completing the design.
