About Guernsey Pounds Exchange
The Guernsey Pound (GGP) is the official currency of the Bailiwick of Guernsey, a British Crown dependency in the Channel Islands that issues its own banknotes and coins at parity with sterling. We accept all denominations of Guernsey banknotes and coins, including older series and damaged notes.
Current Guernsey Banknotes
Guernsey issues its own range of banknotes through the States of Guernsey, featuring local landmarks and imagery distinctive to the island. Unlike most high street exchanges, we accept all current denominations, including the 50 Guernsey pound note and the 20 Guernsey pound note, as well as smaller denominations across the full range.
Old Series & Damaged Notes
Unlike most exchanges, we also buy older and withdrawn Guernsey banknotes that banks are unlikely to accept. We handle a range of earlier issues, including the 1980 series 20 pound note and older issues such as the 1966 one pound note, and everything in between. Notes must be at least 50% intact to be accepted, and a slightly reduced rate applies to older or damaged notes to reflect the additional handling involved.
Guernsey Coins
We accept Guernsey coins alongside banknotes, which is something most currency exchanges will not offer. Guernsey produces its own distinctive coinage, separate from standard British pounds, and we are happy to take them off your hands. Rates for coins are slightly lower than for banknotes due to the additional sorting and handling costs involved.
