The two-dollar coin of Hong Kong is easily recognised by its distinctive scalloped, wavy edge, a shape adopted to help distinguish it by touch. Struck in cupro-nickel, it has a bright silvery colour and a light, thin flan, and forms part of the post-1993 series that replaced the earlier coins bearing the British monarch. It remains in everyday circulation across Hong Kong.

On the obverse, the coin shows a stylised Bauhinia blakeana flower, the floral emblem of Hong Kong, with its five curving petals filling the centre. The Chinese characters for Hong Kong appear at the top and the words “HONG KONG” are inscribed along the lower rim.

On the reverse, a large numeral “2” dominates the field above the date “2015”, with the words “TWO DOLLARS” curving around the lower edge and the Chinese characters for two dollars in the upper field.
