20 Hungarian Forints (Issued 2004)
The twenty-forint coin is one of the mid-range coins of modern Hungarian currency, in daily circulation for shopping and change. Struck in a golden-coloured nickel-brass alloy with a reeded edge, it has a warm tone that sets it apart from the paler lower denominations. Its design pairs a native flower with the coin’s value.
On the obverse is the Hungarian iris (magyar nőszirom), a protected wildflower of the Hungarian plains, shown in bloom, encircled by the legend “MAGYAR KÖZTÁRSASÁG” (Republic of Hungary) and the year.
On the reverse the large numeral “20” appears above the word “FORINT”, with the Budapest mint mark “BP” below.
