The ten aurar was a small subsidiary coin of the Icelandic króna, one hundred aurar making up a króna, and served as low-value change in everyday transactions. This 1966 piece was struck in a pale cupronickel alloy with a plain edge, giving it a light, compact form suited to small purchases. It was issued by the Republic of Iceland and circulated before inflation eventually retired the smallest denominations.
