10000 Indonesian Rupiah (2022 -2025)
£0.301500
1 IDR = £0.000030
The 10000 Indonesian Rupiah banknote issued from 2022 onwards forms part of Indonesia’s current family of redesigned banknotes, introduced to enhance security, durability, and national cultural representation. Although still legal tender in Indonesia, these notes are commonly returned by travellers to the UK after holidays and business trips and are frequently presented for exchange rather than reuse.
The front of the banknote features a finely engraved portrait of Frans Kaisiepo, a prominent Indonesian national hero from Papua, shown in formal attire. The portrait is rendered in deep violet and brown tones with intricate line work, surrounded by layered geometric security patterns. To the left of the portrait sits the denomination “10000” in bold numerals, with “SEPULUH RIBU RUPIAH” printed below. The Indonesian coat of arms (Garuda Pancasila) appears prominently above the denomination, while microtext, colour-shifting elements, and a vertical security thread embedded within the substrate provide advanced counterfeit resistance. Subtle floral motifs and pastel gradients blend across the background, reflecting Indonesia’s natural heritage.
The reverse of the note depicts a traditional Indonesian cultural dance scene, showing a female dancer holding a fan, dressed in detailed ceremonial costume. The dancer is set against a softly coloured landscape with layered textures, botanical motifs, and stylised natural forms. The denomination “10000” is repeated clearly on the right-hand side, alongside serial numbering and tactile features for accessibility. The composition balances cultural storytelling with modern security printing, making the reverse visually distinctive and instantly recognisable.
These 2022–2025 series notes are polymer-based and incorporate transparent windows, iridescent ink effects, and precision intaglio printing. While modern in design, they are not accepted by many UK banks or travel money bureau once brought back into the UK, which is why specialist currency exchange services are commonly used.
