2000 Indonesian Rupiah (2009 – 2016)
£0.020000
1 IDR = £0.000010
The 2,000 Indonesian Rupiah banknote (2009–2016 series) forms part of Indonesia’s earlier “Heroes” banknote family, combining national history, traditional culture, and advanced security printing. Issued by Bank Indonesia, this denomination is notable for its muted earth-tone palette, detailed engraving style, and strong cultural symbolism, making it a recognisable and collectible withdrawn note today.
On the front of the banknote, the design features a finely engraved portrait of Pangeran Antasari, a national hero and prominent leader in the Banjar War against Dutch colonial rule in the 19th century. His portrait is rendered in a formal three-quarter pose, wearing traditional headgear and attire, set against intricate guilloché patterns and ornamental line work typical of Indonesian banknotes of this era. The denomination “2000” appears prominently in the upper left and lower right, with “Dua Ribu Rupiah” clearly printed beneath. The Garuda Pancasila national emblem is visible near the top, reinforcing Indonesia’s sovereignty, while layered security elements such as fine microtext, latent images, and complex background textures are integrated throughout the design.
The reverse of the note highlights Indonesian cultural heritage, depicting a group of Dayak traditional dancersperforming in ceremonial dress. The figures are shown mid-movement, wearing feathered headdresses and carrying traditional accessories, capturing the rhythm and identity of indigenous culture from Kalimantan. The inscription “Tarian Adat Dayak” identifies the scene, while the surrounding background features soft geometric patterns, stylised motifs, and a balanced layout that frames the illustration. The denomination “2000” is repeated in large numerals, alongside serial numbers and additional security detailing, including colour-shifting elements and patterned borders.
