5000 Indonesian Rupiah (2022 -2025)
£0.150750
1 IDR = £0.000030
The 5000 Indonesian Rupiah banknote forms part of Indonesia’s latest family of banknotes introduced from 2022 onwards, designed by Bank Indonesia to modernise security features while celebrating national culture, history, and identity. This denomination continues the long-standing role of the 5,000 Rupiah as a widely used mid-value note, while incorporating advanced anti-counterfeiting elements and refreshed artwork.
On the front of the banknote, the dominant feature is a finely engraved portrait of Dr. K.H. Idham Chalid, a prominent Indonesian national figure, shown wearing traditional formal attire and a black peci cap. The portrait is rendered in detailed line engraving against a layered background of geometric patterns and soft colour gradients in warm orange and beige tones. To the right of the portrait appears the Garuda Pancasila national emblem, while “NEGARA KESATUAN REPUBLIK INDONESIA” and the denomination “5000” are clearly printed. Additional security elements visible from the image include microtext, colour-shifting inks, a vertical security strip, and intricate guilloché patterns around the numerals and signature panel.
The reverse of the banknote highlights Indonesia’s rich cultural heritage, featuring a traditional female dancer in ceremonial dress, posed gracefully against a scenic background. The dancer’s costume, jewellery, and posture are depicted with exceptional detail, complemented by floral motifs and flowing background patterns that echo Indonesia’s diverse artistic traditions. The denomination “LIMA RIBU RUPIAH” and “5000” are prominently displayed, along with tactile elements and layered design features that enhance both visual depth and security. The overall composition blends cultural symbolism with modern banknote technology.
Although this banknote is part of Indonesia’s current series, older or surplus notes are often held outside the country and may not be accepted by banks or travel money bureau services. Many individuals and organisations therefore look for specialist services to exchange foreign coins and notes securely and efficiently.
