The Manx pound coin is the Isle of Man’s own one-pound coin, issued under the crown and matching sterling in value. This 2023 issue is a substantial round coin with a milled edge, struck during the reign of King Charles III. As a Crown Dependency, the Isle of Man mints its own coinage, often refreshing its reverse designs each year with Manx themes.
On the obverse is the portrait of King Charles III facing left, with the legend “KING CHARLES III”, “ISLE OF MAN” and the year “2023”.
On the reverse is a grey seal and its pup on rocks, a familiar sight in the seas around the island, with the inscription “GREY SEAL”, its Manx name “RAUN GLASS”, and the value “1 POUND”.
