2 Manx Pounds (Issued 2007)

The Isle of Man two pound coin is a bimetallic piece circulating within the island at parity with sterling. This 2007 example is formed from a golden nickel-brass outer ring around a pale cupronickel centre, a two-colour construction that makes the denomination easy to recognise. The milled edge gives it security and a firm grip, in keeping with the British-style £2 coins it resembles.

On the obverse, the coin carries Ian Rank-Broadley’s portrait of Queen Elizabeth II facing right, with his initials “IRB” below the neck. The surrounding legend reads “ISLE OF MAN ELIZABETH II” with the date “2007” at the foot, flanked by the island’s triskelion emblem of three running legs, all within a beaded inner circle.

On the reverse, “ROUND TOWER PEEL CASTLE” arcs across the top and “TWO POUNDS” runs along the foot, with a triskelion to either side. At the centre stands the round tower of Peel Castle, shown with sea birds in flight and part of a stone building to the right, set within the golden outer ring.
