About Israeli New Sheqalim Exchange
The Israeli New Sheqel (ILS) is the official currency of Israel, introduced in 1986 to replace the original sheqel at a rate of 1,000 to one. We accept all denominations of Israeli New Sheqalim banknotes and coins, including older series and damaged notes.
Current Israeli New Sheqel Banknotes
The current Israeli New Sheqel banknotes feature portraits of notable Israeli cultural and literary figures, with modern security features including watermarks, security threads, and colour-shifting ink. We accept all denominations currently in circulation, including higher-value notes such as the 200 sheqal note and the 100 sheqal note, as well as all smaller denominations.
Old Series & Damaged Notes
Unlike most high street exchanges, we accept older withdrawn Israeli New Sheqel banknotes, including earlier issues such as the 200 sheqal note issued in 1994 and earlier lower-denomination notes such as the 5 sheqal note issued in 1985. We also accept damaged notes provided they remain at least 50% intact, though the rate applied will be slightly lower than for notes in good condition. If you have even older Israeli currency, we also exchange Israeli Old Sheqalim and Israeli Pounds.
Israeli New Sheqel Coins
We accept Israeli New Sheqel coins across a range of denominations, including the 2 sheqel coin and the 10 sheqel coin, as well as smaller values. As with most foreign coins, the exchange rate is slightly lower than for banknotes due to the additional handling involved, but we will still give you a fair return on your leftover change.
