5 Pence Jersey (Issued 1993)
The five-pence coin is a small everyday denomination of the Jersey pound, issued by the Bailiwick of Jersey and kept at par with sterling so it circulates interchangeably with the British five-pence piece. It was struck in cupro-nickel, giving it a bright silvery appearance, and made as a small, light coin with a reeded edge for easy identification.
On the obverse is a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II facing right, framed by the legend “QUEEN ELIZABETH THE SECOND” with the date beneath.
On the reverse, part of Jersey’s definitive landmark series, appears Seymour Tower, a distinctive square coastal tower shown standing on a rocky islet surrounded by the sea. “BAILIWICK OF JERSEY” arches above and “FIVE PENCE” runs below.
