The Jersey quarter-shilling was a small bronze coin of the island’s pre-decimal currency, part of a long series of low-value pieces struck for the Bailiwick before decimalisation. Made of bronze with a warm copper-brown colour and a plain edge, it was everyday small change, valued at one twenty-sixth of a Jersey pound under the island’s historic penny system.

On the obverse appears the laureate-style crowned bust of Queen Elizabeth II facing right, wearing a coronet, with the legend “QUEEN ELIZABETH THE SECOND” running around the upper edge. A raised rim frames the portrait.

On the reverse, the legend “BAILIWICK OF JERSEY” arcs across the top and “ONE FOURTH OF A SHILLING” curves below. At the centre stands the shield of arms of Jersey, bearing the three leopards (lions passant guardant), with the date split “19 57” on either side of the shield.
