About Lao Kip Exchange

The Lao Kip (LAK) is the official currency of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic, issued by the Bank of the Lao PDR. We accept all denominations of Lao Kip banknotes and coins, including older series and damaged notes.

Current Lao Kip Banknotes

The Lao Kip is used daily across Laos, with a wide range of banknotes in circulation covering modest to higher values. We accept all current denominations, including the 50,000 Kip and the 100,000 Kip notes, as well as all smaller denominations. If you’ve returned from Laos with a mix of notes, we’ll exchange the lot. Old Series & Damaged Notes

Unlike most high street exchanges, we accept older and withdrawn Lao Kip banknotes, including earlier issues such as the 1,000 Kip note first issued in 1992 and lower-denomination notes dating back to 1979. We also accept damaged notes provided they remain at least 50% intact — the rate offered may be slightly lower to reflect the condition, but you won’t find yourself stuck with unspendable currency.
