10 Centavos coin Mexico

10 Centavos Mexico (Issued 1999)

The 10 centavos was a small fractional coin of the Mexican peso, part of the series introduced after the 1993 currency reform. Struck in stainless steel, it had a bright silvery finish and a light, hard-wearing feel suited to low-value change. The coin has a plain edge and remains part of the modern peso coinage.

On the obverse, the coin carries the national coat of arms of Mexico — a golden eagle perched on a prickly-pear cactus, devouring a serpent — encircled by the legend “ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS” with a wreath of laurel and oak below.

On the reverse, a large numeral “10” with the letter c for centavos dominates the field, with the year of minting above and the Mexico City mint mark below, framed within a raised rim.
