10 Lei Moldova (Issued 2018)
The 10 lei was introduced in 2018 as the highest value in a new range of circulating leu coins. It is a bimetallic coin, with a golden centre set in a silvery outer ring, giving it a solid, substantial feel. The coin has a segmented edge and belongs to the current Moldovan coinage.
On the obverse, the coin carries the coat of arms of Moldova — an eagle bearing a cross in its beak and holding an olive branch and a sceptre, with a shield on its breast showing an aurochs head between a star, a rose and a crescent. The legend “REPUBLICA MOLDOVA” runs around the rim.
On the reverse, a large numeral “10” above the word “LEI” fills the golden centre, with a small national emblem above, laurel branches and the year 2018 below, within the outer ring and raised rim.
