50 Santimat Morocco (Issued 1974)
The 50 santimat dates from the 1974 reform, when Morocco introduced the santimat as the fraction of the dirham. Struck in cupro-nickel with a silvery finish, it was a mid-range everyday coin. Later santimat issues replaced this older type, making the 1974 coin an out-of-circulation piece. It has a plain edge.
On the obverse appears the portrait of King Hassan II facing left, bare-headed, with Arabic inscriptions around the rim.
On the reverse appears the Moroccan coat of arms with its crowned shield and supporting lions, above the numeral “50” and its Arabic value, with the dual dates 1974 and 1394 around the rim.
