The 2 rupees coin was a small circulating denomination of the Kingdom of Nepal, struck in brass with a warm golden-yellow colour and a plain edge. Its legends are written in Devanagari script, and it circulated as everyday small change during the reign of King Birendra.

On the obverse, a square panel at the centre carries a small central emblem surrounded by Devanagari royal legends naming the king, with auspicious symbols including a sun and an open hand set into the corner fields. The Devanagari date appears at the foot of the panel, framed by a beaded border.

On the reverse, a multi-storey palace building with domed pavilions is shown at the centre beneath a Devanagari legend curving across the top. The numeral “२” (2) appears below the building, flanked by further Devanagari inscription, all within a beaded rim.
