The ten cent coin is the smallest circulating coin of New Zealand. Struck in copper-plated steel, it has a warm coppery colour and a light, hard-wearing feel. It has a plain edge and belongs to the current New Zealand coinage, this issue bearing the effigy of King Charles III.
On the obverse appears the portrait of King Charles III facing left, with the legend “CHARLES III” and “NEW ZEALAND” and the year 2024 around the rim.
On the reverse appears a Maori koruru, a carved mask face with tattoo patterns and koru scrollwork, with the numeral “10” for the value inside a beaded border.
