The two dollar coin is the highest-value circulating coin of New Zealand. Struck in aluminium-bronze with a warm golden colour, it is a thick, solid coin built for heavy handling. It has a reeded edge and belongs to the current New Zealand coinage, this issue bearing the effigy of King Charles III.
On the obverse appears the portrait of King Charles III facing left, with the legend “CHARLES III” and “NEW ZEALAND” and the year 2024 around the rim.
On the reverse appears a kotuku, the white heron, shown in flight amid Maori-style koru scrollwork, with the inscription “TWO DOLLARS” around the rim.
