10 Baisa — National Arms (Issued 1420-1434 / 1999-2013)
The 10 Baisa is a circulation coin of Oman, struck between 1420 and 1434 in the Hijri calendar, corresponding to 1999 to 2013. It is made of copper-clad steel, which gives the coin a warm, coppery appearance over a strong steel core. The coin is round, weighs 4.1 g and measures 22.5 mm in diameter. It served as one of the lowest-value pieces in everyday circulation across the Sultanate.
The obverse carries the national arms of Oman. The Arabic legend reads “قابوس بن سعيد سلطان عمان”, which translates as “Qaboos bin Sa’id Sultan of Oman”, naming the ruling Sultan.
The reverse shows the value and dates in Arabic. The lettering reads “بيسة ١٠ ١٤٢٩هـ ٢٠٠٨م”, giving the value as 10 Baisa together with the year in both the Hijri (1429) and Gregorian (2008) calendars.
