The five-cent coin of Singapore’s Second (floral) Series, introduced in 1985, is a small circulating denomination. Struck in an aluminium-bronze or brass-plated alloy with a golden colour and a plain edge, it is a light, hard-wearing everyday piece.

On the obverse, the state coat of arms of Singapore is shown — the shield with crescent and five stars, lion and tiger supporters and the motto ‘MAJULAH SINGAPURA’ — with ‘SINGAPORE’, the year and the value.

On the reverse, the fruit salad plant (Monstera deliciosa) forms the central motif, drawn from the plants-and-flowers theme of the Second Series, with the denomination.
