About Singapore Dollar Exchange

The Singapore Dollar (SGD) is the official currency of Singapore, one of Asia’s most dynamic financial hubs. We accept all denominations of Singapore Dollar banknotes and coins, including older series and damaged notes.

Current Singapore Dollar Banknotes

Singapore’s current Portrait Series banknotes feature a range of denominations and incorporate modern security features such as colour-shifting ink, security threads, and microprinting. We accept all current Singapore Dollar banknotes, including the S$100 note and the high-value S$1,000 note, as well as every other denomination in circulation.

Old Series & Damaged Notes

Unlike most high street exchanges, we buy older withdrawn Singapore Dollar banknotes, including notes from earlier series going back decades — such as the S$500 note issued in 1988 and the rare S$10,000 note issued in 1980. We also accept damaged notes, provided they are at least 50% intact, though the rate offered may be slightly lower than for undamaged currency.

Singapore Dollar Coins

We accept Singapore Dollar coins, including current Third Edition coins such as the S$1 coin and the 50-cent coin, as well as older coin series. Rates for coins are slightly lower than for banknotes due to the additional handling involved, but we won’t turn them away as many banks would.

Singapore Dollar Exchange FAQ

Do you accept the old Singapore Bird Series banknotes?

Yes, we do accept older withdrawn Singapore Dollar banknotes, including those from earlier series. These are bought at a slightly lower rate than current notes, but you won’t need to worry about them being turned away — we’ll make you an offer regardless of age.

Can I exchange Singapore Dollar coins as well as banknotes?

Yes! We accept Singapore Dollar coins, including smaller denominations such as 5-cent, 10-cent, 20-cent, and 50-cent coins, as well as the S$1 coin. Most UK banks won’t handle foreign coins at all, so sending them to us is a straightforward way to get something back for them.

Is the S$10,000 Singapore Dollar note still valid — can I exchange it?

The S$10,000 note was withdrawn from circulation by the Monetary Authority of Singapore, but we can still exchange it. We buy both the 1980 and 1999 issued versions of this high-value note, so if you have one tucked away, it’s well worth sending it in.

How do I send my Singapore Dollars and when will I be paid?

Simply box up your Singapore Dollars securely and post them to us yourself — many customers returning from a trip to Southeast Asia find this the easiest option compared to trying exchange desks on the high street. Once we receive your currency, we’ll verify it and pay you within 5 working days by bank transfer or PayPal. If you’re not happy with our offer, we’ll return your notes free of charge.

Do you accept damaged Singapore Dollar banknotes?

Yes, we accept damaged Singapore Dollar banknotes as long as they are at least 50% intact. Unlike many exchanges and banks that refuse worn or torn notes entirely, we’ll still make you an offer — though the rate may be slightly reduced compared to notes in good condition.
