This ten-korun coin is the bimetallic top denomination of the Slovak koruna, distinguished by its golden-coloured centre set within a silvery outer ring. With a milled edge and a chunky feel, it circulated as everyday money until Slovakia adopted the euro in 2009, and is now withdrawn.
On the obverse, the Slovak coat of arms — a double-barred cross on three hills — is shown, encircled by ‘SLOVENSKÁ REPUBLIKA’ and the year 2003.
On the reverse, a decorated cross with stylised figures, taken from an early medieval ornamental cross, forms the central design, with the denomination ’10 Sk’ beside it.
