The ten-tolar coin was a mid-value denomination of the Slovenian tolar, circulating before Slovenia adopted the euro in 2007. Struck in cupronickel with a silvery colour and a plain edge, it is a durable everyday coin now withdrawn from use.
On the obverse, a large numeral 10 fills the centre, encircled by the legend ‘REPUBLIKA SLOVENIJA’ and the value in words ‘DESET TOLARJEV’, with the year 2000.
On the reverse, a rearing horse is shown with the Latin word ‘EQUUS’ and small pellets in the field, part of the tolar coinage’s wildlife theme.
