2 Swedish Kronor (Issued 1969)
The 2 kronor was a substantial everyday coin of the Swedish krona, its older type minted until 1971. This 1969 piece is struck in copper-nickel, following the change away from silver in 1968, and has a silvery colour, a solid feel and a reeded edge.
On the obverse appears a portrait of King Gustaf VI Adolf facing left, with the legend “GUSTAF VI ADOLF SVERIGES KONUNG” (Gustaf VI Adolf, King of Sweden) around the rim and a small mintmaster’s initial.
On the reverse, a crowned coat of arms with the dynastic shield sits at the centre, the year 1969 above and the value “2 KR” beside it. The royal motto “PLIKTEN FRAMFÖR ALLT” (Duty before all) runs around the lower rim.
