The 20 francs Vreneli is Switzerland’s best-known gold coin, struck in .900 fine gold and issued across the first half of the twentieth century. On the obverse appears the bust of a young Swiss woman personifying Helvetia, her hair braided with loose curls, set against a background of Alpine mountains. The name “HELVETIA” is inscribed above and the designer’s signature “F. LANDRY” sits at the base of the bust.

On the reverse, the Swiss shield bearing the cross is set upon a spray of oak leaves, flanked by the value “20” and “FR”, with the date “1947” below and the mint mark “B” for Bern at the lower right.
