10 Satang Thailand (Issued 1946)
The 10 satang was a minor coin of Thailand’s baht system, equal to one tenth of a baht. This issue, dated B.E. 2489 (1946), was struck during the reign of the young King Ananda Mahidol, Rama VIII, in a dark base metal for everyday small change. It is a small, thin coin with a plain edge.
On the obverse appears the bust of the young King Ananda Mahidol facing left in uniform, framed by Thai inscriptions naming the monarch to either side.
On the reverse, the mythical Garuda, the royal emblem of Thailand, is shown with wings spread wide above the Thai numeral “๑๐” (10). The legend “รัฐบาลไทย” (Government of Thailand) curves across the top and the Buddhist-era date is set along the foot.
