100 Baht Baht / Tical (Issued 2015)

The 100 Baht note issued in 2015 remains current legal tender in Thailand and continues to circulate as part of the Bank of Thailand’s general issue series. It was produced during the reign of King Bhumibol Adulyadej and carries his portrait as the central identifying feature of the obverse design. The note forms part of a broader series that has kept the 100 Baht denomination in active use throughout the country. If you are holding this note in the United Kingdom, it retains exchange value and can be converted through a standard currency exchange service.

On the front, the dominant feature is a formal portrait of King Bhumibol Adulyadej, Rama IX of Thailand, rendered in fine intaglio engraving and positioned to the right of centre. The portrait shows the King wearing glasses and traditional royal regalia, with a richly decorated collar visible across the chest. The overall colour scheme of the obverse is a warm rose-pink, with soft gradients and intricate guilloché patterns forming circular and floral motifs across the background field. To the left of the portrait, the Thai Garuda emblem — the official symbol of the Bank of Thailand — is printed prominently in reddish-brown, flanked by the issuing authority’s name in Thai script text. Below the Garuda, a large decorative numeral “100” is printed in stylised form, incorporating open circular elements with an ornamental finish. Two facsimile signatures of Bank of Thailand officials appear beneath this numeral, printed in black. The serial number 9 P 9458601 is printed in green in the lower right area of the note, with an additional serial reference visible in the upper left in a contrasting dark ink. To the far right, a holographic security patch is affixed, displaying a decorative circular design in blue, gold, and green with a shifting colour effect. The denomination “100” appears again in bold numerals in the upper right corner, accompanied by Thai script text reading “one hundred baht.” Fine horizontal security printing lines run across the note’s surface, and a vertical security thread is embedded within the paper, visible as a dark band running through the mid-section of the note. The overall paper is a clean off-white with a pink wash, and the print quality throughout reflects the precision expected of a Bank of Thailand issue.

The reverse presents a central standing portrait of Queen Sirikit of Thailand, depicted in a full-length composition wearing a golden traditional Thai dress with a royal sash. She is shown facing the viewer directly, with floral motifs at the lower foreground rendered in warm gold and orange tones. To the left of Queen Sirikit, a secondary scene depicts King Bhumibol Adulyadej walking in a rural landscape accompanied by several attendants, rendered in a slightly muted tone that recedes behind the principal portrait. The background of the reverse carries the same warm rose-pink colour scheme as the obverse, with guilloché circular patterning visible behind the central figures. The large decorative “100” numeral in the same open-circle style appears to the lower left. Thai script text appears in the lower right area of the note, alongside the word “specimen” rendered in Thai script, indicating this particular example is a specimen note used for display purposes rather than general circulation. The denomination “100” is printed clearly in the upper right corner accompanied by Thai script. A vertical security thread is visible along the right-hand side of the note, with denomination text printed within it. A small floral motif in purple and blue appears in the lower right quadrant. The Garuda emblem in red appears in the upper left corner of the reverse, maintaining design continuity with the obverse.
